"Sustainable Dining: Exploring Farm to Table at Finley Farms, Ozark, MO"

They had us at "Green Tomato Cake" so we had to check out The Ozark Mill Restaurant/ Finley Farms in Ozark, MO. Nestled in the heart of Ozark, this urban farm is a testament to sustainable food systems in action. With a backdrop full of history, you could even spot bridges built and stamped in the year of "1909."


The revitalized Ozark Mill, once an old mill built in the early 1800s that experienced hardships such as three fires and rebuilds proves it's commitment community. It was the last commercially operating watermill in Missouri and you can feel the history as you walked through the farm.


Finley Farms brings forth a remarkable dining experience where freshness and locality take center stage. At Finley Farms, the concept of 'local' takes on a whole new meaning. With ingredients sourced directly from their urban farm, patrons are treated to flavors that reflect the essence of Ozark's fertile land. From the fine dining experience Garrison to the coffee in the Workshop , every corner tells a story of sustainability and community.


However, amidst this culinary bliss, it's essential to remember the food policy challenges that Missouri faces. With issues ranging from food insecurity to agricultural sustainability, the role of policy in shaping our food systems cannot be overstated.


In Missouri alone, approximately 1 in 7 individuals struggle with food insecurity (1).
